Guru Govind Singh and His Brave Sons / Christmas Celebration vs Martyrdom Week

Christmas is not a festival of India, yet people celebrate Christmas with pomp and show .  Celebrate Christmas but I think you should know what happened from December 20 to December 27, after then decide what to do??????

India was ruled by the Mughal Empire.  The Mughal ruler Aurangzeb was a staunch Muslim and in order to convert fanatics to Islam, he gave many kinds of troubles to the Hindus.  He wanted to make the whole of India a follower of Islam, on his orders, mosques were built by demolishing temples at many places, various taxes were imposed on Hindus, no Hindu could wear arms, riding on a horse .  Aurangzeb wanted to destroy Indian culture and religion from the root.  Due to mutual discord among the Hindus, there was no protest against the atrocities.  The tenth Guru Gobind Singh ji raised his voice against these atrocities, who made up his mind to create new enthusiasm and awakening among the weak Hindus.  To fulfill this purpose, Guru Gobind Singh ji established the Khalsa Panth at Anandpur Sahib on the day of Baisakhi in 1699.

Subedar Wazir Khan of Sirhind, furious with the Khalsa sect, and the hilly Hindu Raje united and attacked Guru Gobind Singh ji in 1704.  The Mughals surrounded the fort of Anandpur with the help of hilly kings, where Guru Gobind Singh was present.  Despite many attempts, they failed to conquer the fort.  The Sikhs fought them bravely and did not allow the capture of the fort of Anandpur for seven months. Desperately, Aurangzeb sent a message to Guruji and by swearing in the Quran, requested Guruji to vacate the fort and said, " if Guru Gobind Singh leave the fort of Anandpur then there will be no war with them."

Guruji did not believe in Aurangzeb's statement, but still after consulting the Sikhs, Guru ji came out on the night of 20 December 1704, vacating the fort along with the Sikh-soldiers from horse and marched towards Ropar.  When the Mughals came to know about this, they broke all their vows and attacked Guruji.  Fighting, the Sikhs crossed the Sirsa River and took the front in Chamkaur's Garhi . This war was special in itself because only 40 Sikhs fought against 80 thousand Mughals.  When the ammunition of the Sikhs was exhausted, Guru Gobind Singh ji made a batch of five Sikhs and sent them to the battle of the plains.  Sikh soldiers were few in number, yet they fought with the Mughals and killed thousands of soldiers of the Mughal army.  The elder Sahibzade also joined the fight after taking permission from Guru ji.  While fighting, he crossed the Sirsa river. And while fighting with valor, 18-year-old Ajit Singh and 15-year-old Jujhar Singh got Veergati.

Guru Gobind Singh ji's family was scattered  while leaving Anandpur.  Guruji's two younger sons Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh along with their grandmother Mata Gujri left Anandpur and moved ahead.  Crossing the jungles and hills, they reached a town, where a poor water-carrying laborer named Kammo lovingly served the Guruputras and Mata Gujri.  Along with all this, a Brahmin named Gangu, who had been working as a cook with Guru Gobind Singh for 22 years, also came.  He stole Mother's bundle of gold  in the night.  In the morning when Mother asked about the bundle, he not only got furious, but he betrayed Gurumata and the children in the greed of money and imprisoned them in a room by closing the door from outside and informed the Mughal soldiers about it.   The Mughals immediately came and captured the Guru Mata and the Guru's sons and put them in prison.  Throughout the night in the prison, Mata Gujri continued to tell the stories of the sacrifices  of the Sikh Gurus to the children.  Both the boys assured the grandmother that they would  not bring any defame to their father's name and would not leave their religion at any cost.

Mughal told the children that you should give up your religion and accept Islam. Both the children said together - 'We love our religion more than our life. We cannot leave it till the last breath.'  Both the children were captivated alive in the wall, both the children attained martyrdom for their country and religion.
Guru Saheb had attained martyrdom within just one week i.e. between December 22 and December 27 for the sake of his country and religion.

On December 20, Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji left the fort of Shri Anandpur Sahib along with his family.

On 21st and 22nd December, Guru Sahib reached the Chamkaur ground with his two elder sons and fought. Guru Sahib's mother and younger Sahibzadas were taken away from the fort  by a Brahmin named Gangu, who used to cook  in the Guru's house.

The battle of Chamkaur started and while battling with the enemies, Guru Sahib's elder sahibzadas Shri Ajit Singh and younger Sahibzade Shri Jujhar Singh along with other companions attained martyrdom to protect the country and religion.

On 23 December, after stealing jewelry and other items from Guru Sahib's mother Shri Gujar Kaur ji and both the younger Sahibzade ,Gangu Brahmin, informed the Mughals and they were arrested .

On December 24, all three were taken to Sirhind and were placed under house arrest in the cold turret.

On December 25 and 26, the younger Sahibzadas were presented in the court of Nawab Wazir Khan and were forced to convert their religion.

On December 27, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh(aged just 8 years) and Sahibzada Fateh Singh(aged only 6 years)  martyred after all the atrocities, after  captivated in the wall alive.  After hearing the news, Mata Gujar Kaur gave up her breath.  .
